Pledge drive: Help me help 360|Flex who is helping me

The 360|Flex conference is coming up soon - March 8-10 in San Jose. It seems that John and Tom - the organizers - have everything ready to go except for one little item: getting a sponsor for the USB Thumbdrive that comes in the swag-bag. They offered it to me but it's a little out of my marketing budget for RunPee.com - which is zero dollars. But they are on the hook either way so we worked out a deal. I'll start a pledge drive and try to raise as much money as I can to cover the cost of sponsoring the thumbdrive - $1,300 target. In exchange they will put RunPee.com on it. I'm not on the hook for anything except trying to raise money to cover their costs so that they don't take a loss.

We would all appreciate it if you chipped in a few bucks. I will give every dollar donated to my Paypal account to 360|Flex up until the conference is over. Let me know if you would like for your donation to be public or not because I'll keep a running tab on this page of who donated and how much.

Interview with Jeffry Houser of DotComIt

September 2nd, 2008 . by polygeek

While at 360Flex I broke out the FlipCam and recorded a few interviews. Here’s the first with Jeffry Houser. He runs a consulting firm DotComIt, he’s the co-host of TheFlexShow.com, a podcast he does with John Wilker and he’s also editor-n-chief of TheFlexAuthority magazine.

Chalk it up to my interviewing inexperience but I totally blew over asking him to talk more about Flextras. Look for more from Jeffry on that subject shortly.

It’s also worth noting that Jeffry’s presentation at 360Flex on creating Flex components was the best presentation that I attended. He did a great job of covering the process of creating components and not just diving in deep into a perfect component right off the bat.

His presentation is up on AMP. You can read how to get access to all the 360Flex presentations here.

If something here has proved valuable to you then feel free to drop a couple of bucks in the tip-jar.

One correction, Doug coughed up $1800 for the his mug to be on the shirt! I don’t want to diminish his contributions. Thanks again, Doug!

It was very cool to get a glimpse into Jeff’s life. He’s a smart guy. Though not as flashy as Jesse Warden or as crazy as Doug McCune, I think Jeff has a lot of good advice to give folks on how to make it on your own.

Much thanks for the kind words you both said about the conference. Was I ever stressed though? I didn’t think that happened. LOL Well, I thought it at least never showed. :)

@Tom Ortega, thanks for clearing that up. I’m not sure where I got the impression that Doug got on the shirt for so little.
