Poll : If you could only use one of your social networks which would it be?
July 2nd, 2008 . by polygeekWhat would you do without Facebook? Or, twitter, LinkedIn, etc.? Well, suppose you could use only one of them. Which would it be? ( vote over in the right sidebar )
There’s a good argument to be made for FriendFeed since it aggregates many of the most popular social sites. But it pretty much just gives you a snapshot of each so maybe it wouldn’t be the best option.
My choice would be twitter because I work from home and it’s pretty much all I have to replace water-cooler talk.
But my RSS reader - Google Reader - would be a close second. It’s not just a way for me to keep up with the latest news in the Adobe Flex/Actionscript world. It’s also a great way to keep tabs of my friends who blog.

@doug That’s a good point. We could probably start up a very long thread about just what is a social network anyways? I think LinkedIn qualifies. It’s certainly about networking. But a very specific type.
I would have said Twitter, maybe three months ago, but given the recent reliability….
Twitter - it’s really the only one i have time for. :) I do facebook but I don’t really enjoy it. It’s more of a way to see what old friends are up to in a general way.
The one that I have the design in my head, waiting to be coded.
Maybe someday I’ll get the time to code it and alleviate the world of such evils as MySpace and Twitter.
to use for??). From all of this apps my favorite is by far Twitter (just to answer on PolyGeek’s poll). That’s because I use it EVERY SINGLE DAY, it’s the 1st thing I do after I boot …
LinkedIn is the only social network I use because unlike the others, it has clear business value to me. I don’t get the value of all those other things. Twitter is the most disconcerting of them all. I mean come on! “I’m eating a hot dog right now.” (Aren’t you glad you know that?)
@Harry, I think you underestimate the value of Twitter. Of course the majority of twits are of trivial value but sometimes it’s important news that you can use. And though it isn’t something to be abused the ability to ask a question and usually get a response is huge. I could go on, but I think I’ll twitter it instead. :-)
I am surprised to see face has such a large number of votes. It’s an incredible time waster/time suck. In my POV. What do folks like about it besides old friends finding you?
